AFI Sponsors Military Spouse Magazine's Military Spouse of the Year Award

LEAVENWORTH, Kan., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Armed Forces Insurance (www.afi.org) today announced that the company will sponsor Military Spouse magazine's 2011 "Military Spouse of the Year" award.

The award is presented each year to one military spouse who represents the sacrifice, patriotism and selflessness of the community of more than 20 million past and present military spouses, according to Col. Tom Dials (U. S. Army, Ret.), chairman of Armed Forces Insurance.

"By supporting our service members from home, military spouses dedicate their lives and families to the service of our great nation while giving back to a community in need," Dials said. Four women and one man were selected as finalists from each military branch through an online vote held during the past three months. This year is the first time a male military spouse has been in the running for the final award. Each of the five finalists' profiles and photos are featured at www.milspouse.com/msoy— all Americans are encouraged to visit the website, learn about each finalist and vote for their favorite. This final phase of voting will continue through March 2, 2011.

The 2011 award will be the fourth consecutive year that Military Spouse magazine has recognized a Military Spouse of the Year.
