SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), the neutral home where the agentic stack is being built, today announced that the Gates Foundation has joined as the first philanthropic organization, with Matt Vasey, senior advisor of AI strategy and ecosystems, taking a seat on the AAIF board. The Gates Foundation brings its perspective across global health, education, agriculture and economic opportunity to the community building the open technologies and standards that will underpin agentic AI.

Together, AAIF and the Gates Foundation will work to broaden participation in the open source communities building agentic AI, including by creating more opportunities for developers in regions that have historically been underrepresented in major technology ecosystems to participate and contribute.

That commitment will begin with MCP Dev Summit Nairobi, where the Gates Foundation has established a fund to support attendance innovators across the continent. The investment will help more developers access the region, connect with the broader community and participate directly in conversations around the open technologies shaping agentic AI.
