AI in the Workplace: New Cognizant 'Jobs of the Future Index' Tracks 50 Emerging Roles

TEANECK, N.J., Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH) Center for the Future of Work today launched a unique new measurement designed to regularly provide insight into what the jobs of the future will look like and how they are evolving. The Cognizant Jobs of the Future Index measures the changes in demand for 50 specific occupations and examines both the volume and velocity of new work that is emerging as artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and other next generation digital technologies take a greater foothold in the workplace.

Cognizant teamed up with ESI ThoughtLab, a leading economic research firm, to create the U.S.-based Index. The quarterly Index will measure the changes in demand for 45 actual or "real" jobs, along with 5 "proxy" occupations in industries including fitness and wellness, healthcare, legal and financial services, transportation and others. The online Index allows users to drill down into comparative trends for each of the underlying occupations.

ESI ThoughtLab's senior economists constructed the analytical framework for the Index, and Burning Glass, a provider of workforce analytics, provided the current and historical data needed to create the Index.  The launch of the Index follows the success of Cognizant's 21 More Jobs of the Future report in 2018, and its 2017 21 Jobs of the Future report.
