AIAG Partners with ProMexico to Offer Quality Training for Mexican Automotive Suppliers
Training programs in Mexico to help supply base meet quality standards for serving global market
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AIAG announced today that it has partnered with ProMexico to offer quality training for automotive suppliers within Mexico. AIAG, a not-for-profit, member-supported organization that works with a wide range of manufacturing companies and service providers to help them operate at peak performance, and ProMexico, the Mexican government institution in charge of strengthening Mexico's participation in the global economy, will offer 16 week-long training programs in major Mexican manufacturing hubs.

"Our goal is to help companies demonstrate true 'command and control' of their internal processes and, by so doing, meet/exceed industry quality standards, making them more competitive in the NAFTA region and significantly increasing their access to potential export opportunities."
The program will give companies a foundation for meeting the competency requirements as defined in ISO/TS 16949 quality standards and bring their operation to world-class level. ProMexico estimates that 65 percent of Mexico-based automotive suppliers have the competitiveness and capacity to export, but they need to adopt quality principles and practices to meet a multinational corporation's needs. AIAG's Core Tools training program, endorsed by quality representatives from global OEM and tier one manufacturers, teaches principles and practices of North American automotive quality and earns participants certification with globally recognized credentials.
The AIAG Core Tools training programs will be offered in Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla, Hermosillo, Chihuahua, and Aguascalientes throughout 2012, beginning in February. Each program will cover advanced product quality planning, production part approval process, failure modes and effects analysis, measurement systems analysis, and statistical process control. As an incentive to encourage participation, ProMexico is underwriting 70 percent of the training cost in support of organizations that want to validate proficiency to customers.
AIAG has been active in Mexico for more than 25 years, supporting members and the extended supply chain who have a manufacturing footprint there with training, publications and standards in addition to assistance with industry events. The AIAG training will be presented in Spanish by AIAG-approved instructors, and the AIAG Core Tools training documents and relevant AIAG publications will be translated into Spanish.
