As his 16-year professional baseball career (including eight years in MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles between 2008-2015) came to a conclusion, Snider realized his entire identity and self-worth were directly correlated with his successes and failures on the field. A therapeutic journey led him to being diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD), and to the conclusion that his anxiety began with his experiences in youth sports, when he was arguably the best baseball player in the state of Washington beginning at age 11.
