AirTran Airways Reports Year End Traffic

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today reported setting new December records for traffic, capacity and enplaned passengers.

For December, 2009, AirTran Airways traffic increased 5.3 percent to more than 1.5 billion RPMs on an 8.2 percent rise in capacity and the number of enplaned passengers jumped 1.7 percent to over 1.9 million.

For the fourth quarter, traffic increased 6.9 percent to more than 4.5 billion RPMs on an 8.1 rise in capacity.

For 2009, the airline's load factor climbed 0.2 points to 79.8 percent.
