AISTS 2018 Athlete Scholarship Awarded to USA Triathlete and Sport Scientist
The AISTS has awarded its 6th Athlete Scholarship to 32-year-old Thomas Roos from California, USA

Thomas is a scientist, professional multi-sport athlete, entrepreneur, and identical twin. He has been involved in sport all his life from recreational youth sports, to an NCAA All-American swimmer in college, to a USAT All-American in triathlon, and now as a USA Triathlon elite triathlete.

Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University and has a Master of Science in Biology from Stanford University. More recently Thomas also earned a second Master of Science degree in Clinical Research and Epidemiology also from Stanford.
Thomas also competes in other sports events including non-draft triathlons, aquathlons, duathlons, open water swims, cycling road races, and running road races. He also has achieved multiple top 5 finishes over the years at USA Triathlon National Championships events
Thomas's passion lies in helping athletes achieve their athletic dreams while abiding by the highest ethical, legal, and fair play standards. Along these lines Thomas has been a captain and coach for the Stanford University triathlon team and has worked as a sports science consultant for various sports technology and genetics companies.
Thomas joins a growing list of international athletes who have activated their post-athlete career through the AISTS programme such as Nigerian Olympic gold medallist for the 4 x 100m relay, Enee Udo-Obong, German Olympic windsurfer, Toni Wilhelm who recently competed at the Rio Olympic Games and two-time US open water champion, Christine Jennings. The AISTS contributes to half the tuition cost of its 15-month programme.
Thomas will commence the AISTS Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology programme at the end of September at the EPFL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland.
