Alan Goldfarb, CFP® to Serve as 2012 Chair of CFP Board's Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Top financial advisor and educator, Alan Goldfarb, CFP® is the new Chair of the Board of Directors of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.

Goldfarb is the Chief Wealth Strategist for Weaver Wealth Management in Dallas, Texas and has dedicated his professional life to the advancement of the financial planning profession. An innovative educator and advocate for financial planning education, he developed at the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management the curriculum and structure of the nation's first personal MBA program for the personal financial planning profession to be registered with CFP Board.

A past Chair of CFP Board's Board of Professional Review (now Disciplinary and Ethics Commission), he also served on the Ethics Task Force that developed the most recent version of CFP Board's Standards of Professional Conduct.

He has served as the Director of the Financial Services MBA Program at the University Of Dallas Graduate School of Management and as Executive Director for the Southwest Institute for Personal Financial Education.

Goldfarb has been recognized for his outstanding professional work, having been named by Worth magazine as a top financial advisor for five consecutive years and a top financial planner in D and Texas Monthly magazines. In 2011, Financial Planning magazine awarded Goldfarb its Influencer Award, recognizing him as a dynamic "Legacy Builder" whose work has furthered the careers of newcomers to the profession.
