Alaska Airlines to fly Bellingham to Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii

SEATTLE, April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Airlines announced today that it will begin weekly flights between Bellingham, Washington and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. The nonstop, seasonal service to Kona begins Nov. 12 and ends April 1, 2017.

"Our customers living in Northwest Washington and in British Columbia, Canada, will soon be able to enjoy convenient access to some of Hawaii's best snorkeling and the world-famous Kilauea volcano with our new Bellingham-based flights," said John Kirby, the airline's vice president of capacity planning.

The flights will be operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, accommodating 16 passengers in first class and 147 in the main cabin. Onboard, customers will enjoy Alaska's award-winning service, along with features to help make the most of their flight – for work or pleasure. Alaska Beyond Entertainment offers free and premium entertainment direct to customer devices. Other 737-800 onboard amenities include a selection of food and beverage inspired by local flavors, custom leather seats with adjustable headrests, and power outlets for laptops and personal devices at every seat.

With the new weekly Kona flight, Alaska will offer nine peak-season flights from Bellingham, which includes five, year-round daily flights to Seattle and one year-round daily flight to Portland, Oregon; as well as seasonal daily service to Las Vegas and seasonal, four-times weekly service to Maui.
