The focus is to build an innovative culture in which employee ideas are truly valued. Alberta Blue Cross will use Planbox to invite its employees to share their suggestions on company-wide, departmental and team challenges.
All 1,000+ employees of Alberta Blue Cross will use Planbox across all its branch offices around the province. Once the innovation team has some experience with the tool, Alberta Blue Cross expects to use Planbox as an open innovation solution to solicit ideas from its valued customers.
Alberta Blue Cross Executive Committee (EC) asked participants in its future leaders program to generate recommendations to help build an innovative culture. This included the corporate innovation team whose task was to recommend a digital approach to gathering ideas from Alberta Blue Cross employees. The company first contacted Planbox in March 2016 and began a long and thorough evaluation process along with several other ideation and innovation management applications. Planbox made the short list of three applications selected for a demo to the majority of Alberta Blue Cross future leaders as well as an Application Architect in the IT area. The evaluation team then recommended Planbox to the EC. Following a demo, EC also liked the look of Planbox and its potential to move Alberta Blue Cross innovation program forward. The purchase of Planbox was approved in the summer of 2017.
According to reviewer ratings, Planbox was the most complete and flexible solution available. Planbox offered a great deal of support and documentation before any contract was signed. During the demo, Planbox was able to present all of the functionality Alberta Blue Cross required, and any unique requests were greeted with a positive response in terms of getting it done.
Alberta Blue Cross metrics for the first year are focused on building an innovative culture revolving around gauging all of the initiatives Alberta Blue Cross is launching and whether they have made a difference in terms of involving Alberta Blue Cross employees in this innovation movement. With respect to Planbox, Alberta Blue Cross will be looking not only at the number of ideas that have been generated per challenge or innovation activity but also their quality.
