Albertsons Companies Voluntarily Recalls Signature Café Southwest Style Salad with Chicken in Six States in Cooperation with Voluntary Recalls by Sargento Foods Inc. and Taylor Farms LLC Due to Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination

BOISE, Idaho, Feb. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In cooperation with the Sargento Foods Inc. (Sargento) recall of multiple cheese products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, Albertsons Companies is recalling Signature Café Southwest Style Salad with Chicken from stores in six states. The salad, which was produced by Taylor Farms for Albertsons Companies, includes cheese that is subject to the Sargento recall.

The product was sold in Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls and Pak 'N Save stores in the states listed in California, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The Albertsons Companies recall impacts only Signature Café Southwest Style Salad with Chicken with the Use By Dates listed below sold at the corresponding stores and states. The product is packaged in a 10.5 oz. clear, clamshell container and is sold from a self-serve refrigerator in the deli area. The product has a UPC code of 21130 06978, which can be found on the bottom of the package and bears establishment number P-34013 or P-34733, which can be found on the top label.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the Sargento, Taylor Farms or Albertsons Companies recalls. Signature Café Southwest Style Salad with Chicken has been recalled out of an abundance of caution.
