NEW YORK, May 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcantara is introducing a new collection of interior design materials and showcasing a unique "conic vine" display created by Nendo at Wanted Design 2014, an international design event in New York City (May 16-19).
Alcantara's new Metamorphosis Collection features 14 expressions of the Italian-made material in shades of blue, gray and teal, with hues of orange, brown, beige-and-cream, fuchsia and yellow. Available in a virtually infinite range of colors and textures, Alcantara is a material of choice for architects and interior designers.
The company's "conic-vine" exhibit, first shown at Milan Design Week in April, also was on display in New York. Developed by Nendo, an award-winning Japanese design studio headed by Oki Sato, the exhibit highlights both the aesthetic and functional qualities of the material. Layers of Alcantara bonded with a thermo-compressing process are used in the 'conic vine' display to create an impression of climbing plants in shades of dove grey and pastel.
The company's exhibit space (Booth 41 at the Waterfront at 269 11th Avenue) also includes a selection of Cappellini "Peg" armchairs by Nendo.
