Alcatel-Lucent and HP deliver cloud data center solutions for data explosion, security and storage

LAS VEGAS, June 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HP DISCOVER -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris andNYSE: ALU) has joined forces with long-standing partner HP to deliver technology solutions to enterprises providing  data center networking, data replication and new storage architectures connected with IP and optical backbones.

The solutions will allow enterprises to provide more cost-effective, reliable services more rapidly with a focus on business continuity, disaster recovery, secure data transport, data center interconnect and remote copy applications - areas that will enable enterprises to address  growing data demands using a cloud architectures, with greater security and flexibility.

These new data center solutions are based on Alcatel-Lucent's leading IP edge platform, the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router and the Alcatel-Lucent 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) family of optical products.

The validated Alcatel-Lucent and HP solutions allow secure and synchronous data replication between data centers over long distances and at rates not previously achievable via standard storage fabric switching.  The solutions have been pre-tested, integrated and are available as part of the HP Complete Program in the Americas and EMEA.

As enterprises and service providers deploy their cloud offerings between data centers and across hybrid environments, they face challenges in scalability, flexibility and management of the data center gateway. HP Networking is expanding its portfolio of wide area network routers for large organizations with the adoption of the flagship Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router. Alcatel-Lucent has also worked closely with HP to tightly integrate its industry-leading 1830 PSS optical platform. When combined with the HP 3PAR Remote Copy software it delivers synchronous replication over fiber up to 130 kilometers with encryption to reduce business risk.

These additional offerings provide greater scale for large organizations, while enabling HP to deliver high quality, end-to-end network solutions. When combined with HPs Distributed Cloud Networking solution it additionally enables automatic creation of data center network services and policies.

This solution further expands the HP and Alcatel-Lucent collaboration in Data Center solutions, after the recent launch of HP Distributed Cloud Networking (DCN) platform. The HP networking virtualization solution tailored at service providers and extra large enterprises. DCN leverages the Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) from Alcatel-Lucent's Nuage Networks SDN venture. DCN lays the foundation for an open and dynamically controlled data center network by enabling customers to automatically deploy secure cloud-based SDN across a distributed and disparate data center configurations, taking just minutes to implement.  

The initiative marks a further milestone in Alcatel-Lucent's global alliance with HP. Together, the two companies are working to support the world's largest organizations and service providers in building network-enabled, distributed cloud infrastructures for the creation of new business opportunities and greater efficiencies, while improving customer service.
