Former Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy joins Alchemy to advance access to essential medicines for safety-net clinics nationwide
BROOKLYN, N.Y., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Alchemy today announced that Dr. Francisco Ruiz has joined the company as its inaugural Senior Fellow.
Dr. Ruiz brings decades of leadership in HIV policy, advocacy, and public service, including as Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP) and, most recently, as Senior Advisor for Program Innovation and Coordination at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Dr. Ruiz joins as the first Senior Fellow in the Alchemy Fellowship, a new platform that brings experienced leaders into Alchemy for applied, time-limited work on some of healthcare's most persistent access challenges.
"Dr. Ruiz has built his career at the intersection of government, community, and public health, always in service of improving access to care for people who need it most," said Peter Park, Co-CEO at Alchemy. "This kind of cross-sector fluency is exactly what today's moment calls for in the fight to maintain access to essential medicines. In his capacity as Alchemy's inaugural Senior Fellow, Dr. Ruiz will directly collaborate with the safety-net clinics we serve throughout the United States, and develop key ecosystem partnerships to accelerate innovation in care delivery, advance sustainable models of care, and scale best practices for the benefit of the patients we collectively serve."
"We have extraordinary tools to improve health, but having the tools is not the same as ensuring people can benefit from them," said Dr. Ruiz. "That requires strong community-based systems, sustainable models of care, and partnerships that connect policy, financing, and practice. This fellowship is an opportunity to work alongside Alchemy and safety-net providers to strengthen those systems, expand access, and learn from what is working on the ground."
