All-Star MUSE Benefit Concert Supporting Disaster Relief in Japan and Non-Nuclear Groups Worldwide to Feature Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Jason Mraz, The Doobie Brothers, Tom Morello, John Hall, Kitaro, Sweet Honey in the Rock, and Jonathan Wilson

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, August 7, an all-star line-up will perform a benefit concert for Musicians United for Safe Energy at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA; showtime is 3 p.m.  The event supports disaster relief efforts in Japan and organizations worldwide working to promote clean, safe energy and appropriate technologies toward a non-nuclear future.  The presenting sponsor, VantagePoint Capital Partners (www.vpcp.com), is the leading global investor in energy innovation and efficiency.  

The line-up includes Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Jason Mraz, The Doobie Brothers, Tom Morello, John Hall, Kitaro, Jonathan Wilson, Sweet Honey in the Rock—plus special guests.  The artists will perform together throughout the show, with Browne and Raitt anchoring the first set, and Crosby, Stills & Nash closing the show.  Reserved seats and lawn tickets are available at Livenation.com, Ticketmaster outlets or through 1-800-745-3000.  Families can bring children 10 and under for free with the purchase of adult lawn tickets. Preceding the concert, the day's events kick off at 1 p.m. with an interactive Clean & Safe Energy Village that represents the largest-ever gathering of organizations and companies from around the country that are advocating for, developing, and producing appropriate technologies to generate clean, safe energy toward a non-nuclear future.  Dozens of organizations will present exhibits and information tables.  Displays will include electric cars, a residential size wind generator, solar energy systems, and a bio-fuel generator.  Experts will be on hand to explain the technologies.  

Several exhibitors are also donating services and technologies to power the stage and Energy Village. WindTronics is providing wind turbines, and solar electricity will go directly into Shoreline's electrical system using panels from SunPower, a set-up from SunPods, and connections by Cobalt.  Mobile Solar will be on-site with a portable system to charge batteries.  The GRNLite LED lighting rig has been supplied by Bandit Lites, and Schubert Systems donated the sound rig.  Shoreline is the largest Green certified concert venue in the U.S., and is a founding member of the Green Music Group.  

The non-profit organizations participating in the Energy Village include the Alliance For Nuclear Responsibility, the group working to stop California's Diablo Canyon and San Onofre nuclear plants from being relicensed; Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS), working on all nuclear situations in the U.S. and abroad; Citizens Action Network, the lead organization in support of Vermont's refusal to relicense the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant; and Mothers For Peace.  Also among the exhibitors are chapters of national organizations including Sierra Club, Greenpeace, and Friends of the Earth.

The MUSE benefit was planned shortly after the meltdowns at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.  Shoreline Amphitheatre was chosen because of its proximity to the Pacific Rim, Northern California's deep association with Japan—and because nuclear reactors on the California coast store spent fuel rods similarly to Fukushima.
