Alliance AutoGas Expands Alternative Fuel Program for N.Y. Fleets With New Regional Propane Fueling Partner
ITHACA, N.Y., June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alliance AutoGas welcomes newest partner Ehrhart Propane & Oil to help provide New York State fleets with dependable, clean, domestically produced propane autogas. As greening America's fleets takes center stage on the national agenda, more propane industry leaders like Ehrhart are stepping up to fulfill demand from fleet managers and owners for affordable alternative fuel.
Alliance AutoGas is a national consortium of companies delivering a complete program to help America's fleets shift from gasoline to clean-burning, economical propane autogas. The Alliance program includes vehicle conversions, on-site fueling and ongoing safety training and technical support, making the switch to autogas easy and cost-effective for fleets.
"Enabling more fleets to run on propane autogas with the Alliance AutoGas program goes hand in hand with Ehrhart's mission to provide the very best service at an honest price," says Ehrhart president Thomas Overbaugh. "Not only does autogas help fleets save more than $1 per gallon versus gasoline at the pump, the infrastructure is significantly less costly to implement compared to other alternative fuel options."
The U.S. autogas supply is 90 percent made in America, so fleets utilizing autogas are doing their part to reduce dependence on foreign oil and increase national energy security. Autogas also produces fewer harmful greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline, including a 20 percent reduction in carbon monoxide.
"Autogas is a practical, affordable alternative vehicle fuel that's made right here in America," says Alliance AutoGas President Stuart Weidie. "Through partnerships with dependable companies like Ehrhart Propane, Alliance AutoGas will continue to support our nation's green energy goals by making autogas more readily available for U.S. fleets."
Established by Gerald Ehrhart in Trumansburg, N.Y., in 1949, Ehrhart Propane & Oil began with just 184 customers. Many of those original customers and their families are still loyal to Ehrhart today. In 1984, the company was purchased by Gerry's niece and her husband, Thomas and Kathleen Overbaugh, and has since grown to serving thousands of customers in the Finger Lakes area. Ehrhart Propane company vehicles have always run on propane, and Overbaugh looks forward to increasing awareness of how affordable and practical autogas is for vehicle fleets.
