Alliance MMA Appoints Chief Technology Officer
Jason Robinett to Streamline Operations and Oversee Enhanced Technology Offerings
NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Alliance MMA, Inc. ("Alliance MMA" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: AMMA), a mixed martial arts organization offering premier promotional opportunities for aspiring mixed martial arts fighters, announced today that Jason Robinett has joined the Company as its Chief Technology Officer.
As Chief Technology Officer, Robinett's mission is to create a fully integrated IT infrastructure that first merges the existing capabilities of Alliance's CageTix electronic ticketing platform with its Go Fight Live! (GFL) video production and content distribution operation, then based on a comprehensive technology roadmap, expand interoperative functionality between the two related businesses with the objective of maximizing shareholder value. Additionally, he will participate in Alliance's current implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, a highly adaptable, cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to address the company's promotional event operations, corporate purchasing, enterprise operations, accounting, tax, audit, and regulatory compliance requirements.
"We are extremely pleased that Jason is joining the Alliance MMA team to serve as the primary architect of all of our IT-based enterprise assets," said Paul K. Danner, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance MMA, Inc. "His extensive working knowledge of complex technology systems is exactly what Alliance needs to fully develop the myriad of complimentary benefits of our ticketing and video distribution operations, as well as automating the accounting and reporting processes associated with our geographically dispersed promotion activities. Our short-term objective is to standardize and simplify the accounting data input function to streamline operational reporting, and to provide our promoters and corporate management with meaningful, near real-time performance metrics to assist in better managing event operations."
"My goal is to make Alliance MMA's systems as simple and efficient as possible," said Robinett. "Simplifying the internal data collection and reporting functions will allow our regional promoters to focus exclusively on fighters and event operations, and in turn, provide fans with the best possible product at a higher level of perceived value. Once that initial objective is achieved, I plan to focus on bringing technological innovation to Alliance MMA's electronic ticketing and video production and content distribution operations."
CageTix, Alliance's electronic ticketing platform, currently partners with approximately 40 different promoters across the country, and on an annual basis, transacts tens of thousands of ticket sales which equates to over one and half million dollars in revenue on which the company earns commissions or overrides. Robinett plans to extend the existing platform to include an online e-ticket capability, with the expectation of providing smart phone users with a more convenient means of finding, purchasing, and redeeming tickets than currently provided by traditional ticketing platforms. Offering a scalable, cost-effective "box office" solution, the e-ticket option presents a viable opportunity to expand the number of current customers and ticket sale transactions, with the anticipated prospect of increasing revenue and profitability associated with the CageTix business.
GFL operates Alliance's video production and content distribution business. Alliance plans to monetize its media libraries, and well as to produce original MMA programming, by utilizing GFL's production and distribution capabilities. Alliance also intends to broaden the opportunities available to GFL by entering into additional domestic and international distribution arrangements, including broadcast television, internet streaming, pay per view, subscription and other media platforms.
"GFL is an amazing treasure trove of combat footage consisting of over 10,000 events that include bouts fought by many of the current top competitors in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Bellator and others," said Robinett. "The function and form of the existing site will be refreshed to make it easier for fans and promoters to use the platform, and we subsequently plan to evaluate the market opportunity and feasibility of delivering a dedicated MMA "TV channel" via "over the top" (OTT) providers consisting of both live and previously recorded events," he added. This emerging capability potentially offers fans alternate ways to view events, perhaps even sitting "cage side" on a virtual basis. Once successfully deployed, promoters would no longer have to limit the number of "cage side" seats, and could scale those sales while delivering a greatly enhanced viewing experience over what existing pay per view purchases would otherwise provide.
Robinett first pursued his calling in the technology sector over 20 years ago, and has since built a valuable operational foundation of professional skills including web development, e-commerce, technical operations, disaster recovery, program management, business case analysis, information security, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Alliance MMA, he was previously employed by Expedia where he served as their Chief Information Security Officer overseeing the design and implementation of the company's first information security program, and Watermark Estate Management Services, a private entity which oversees many of Bill Gates' personal and family matters, as their Director of Technology Services. Robinett earned his bachelor of science in information technology from Western Governors University, and has amassed a wide array of IT certifications.
