Allied Launches New Joint Venture in Outdoor Advertising

Allied Integrated Marketing Joins Forces with Pete Smith's OuterSpace To Establish the Only Los Angeles-Headquartered National Out-Of-Home Agency

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Allied Integrated Marketing is partnering with OuterSpace MediaLab LLC to create the only national full-service out-of-home advertising agency headquartered in Los Angeles. The announcement was jointly made today by Clint Kendall, President of Allied, and Pete Smith, Founder & Managing Partner of Allied OuterSpace (AOS).

The new company will utilize Allied's infrastructure, as well as field specialist support in its 20 U.S. offices and Toronto, Canada. Allied OuterSpace maintains dedicated staff and offices in Los Angeles, where Smith will be based, and New York City.

The out-of-home arena is one of the strongest growth areas in advertising. eMarketer recently forecast outdoor advertising spending in the U.S. to rise from $6.1 billion in 2010 to $6.4 billion this year and $7.6 billion by 2015. At the same time, digital place-based advertising is expected to continue its double-digit growth, increasing 16.7% from $2.07 billion in 2010 to $2.42 billion this year, according to PQ Media.

Prior to forming Allied OuterSpace, Pete Smith was General Manager at CBS Outdoor in Los Angeles, the single largest out-of-home media operation in the world, managing the Entertainment category of accounts and developing numerous first-to-market executions for clients such as NBC, ABC, HBO and many others.  Concurrently in Los Angeles, Smith was Co-Managing Director of CBS/Decaux, the joint venture between CBS Corporation and JC Decaux.  In his role at CBS/Decaux, Smith pioneered the "West Hollywood Domination", which became the must-have piece of any high-profile Entertainment OOH execution in Los Angeles.

Smith's 20-year career spans senior management experience in every major market in the U.S. at leading advertising companies including National Advertising Company, 3M, Outdoor Systems, Chancellor Outdoor, Infinity Outdoor and Viacom.
