Altitude and Matera Bring the X9.150 QR Payment Standard to Business Payments at Money20/20 USA

The companies will demonstrate how the ANSI X9.150 standard enables verified payment instructions and a connected invoice-to-payment workflow, with settlement in USDC on Solana.

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Altitude and Matera will demonstrate a new application of the ANSI X9.150 QR payment standard, developed by the Accredited Standards Committee X9 (X9), at Money20/20 USA, taking place October 18–21 in Las Vegas. The proof of concept shows how businesses can move from invoice to payment using structured, digitally signed payment requests: verified payment instructions in Altitude Bill Pay, payment in USDC on Solana, and a payment-status update returned to the invoicing application.

The demonstration is part of a broader industry effort to show how X9.150 can support interoperability across financial platforms and payment methods. Altitude and Matera's work puts the standard into practice, connecting established business software with stablecoin payments.

Making payment information more reliable

As financial workflows become increasingly automated, the accuracy and authenticity of payment instructions matter more. Businesses routinely receive invoices as PDFs, extract payment details, and retype that information into separate systems. Each step introduces opportunities for errors, inconsistencies, or manipulation.

Published in July 2026 by X9, the ANSI-accredited body that develops financial industry standards for the United States, X9.150 is the first U.S. national standard for secure, interoperable QR code payments. It gives participating applications a common framework for exchanging structured payment requests and notifications, while digital signatures let compatible applications verify a request's origin and detect whether its signed contents have changed. The framework spans multiple payment methods and providers, reducing the need for separate, proprietary experiences.

Matera, the banking and payment technology company, was one of more than 70 organizations that helped develop the X9.150 standard. Together, they are championing a new standard of trust in business payments, with verification built into the flow of financial information.

From invoice to verified payment

At Money20/20, the teams will show the full invoice-to-payment journey in a business bill payment workflow.

The process begins when a payer uploads an invoice PDF containing an X9.150 QR code into Altitude Bill Pay. Altitude reads the code, retrieves the invoicing application's digitally signed payment request, and verifies its origin and integrity. The invoice and recipient details are then prefilled for the payer to review and approve. Once authorized, the payment is completed in USDC on Solana, and a notification returns to the invoicing application to update the invoice's status to paid.

The demonstration brings together three capabilities in a single workflow: standardized payment information, verification before authorization, and settlement through stablecoin infrastructure.

Verifying a payment request's signature does not establish that the underlying invoice is legitimate or should be paid. Businesses retain responsibility for reviewing and authorizing payments.

Building toward more interoperable business payments

The demonstration shows how a shared standard can connect applications that participate in different parts of a financial transaction, from invoice creation to payment execution and status reporting. By making payment information structured and verifiable, X9.150 can reduce manual data entry, improve consistency across systems, and give businesses stronger assurances about the instructions they receive.

As businesses automate more financial work, the reliability of that information becomes increasingly important. Stronger verification gives systems a firmer foundation to work from and people clearer information to review, while preserving the business's control over payment authorization.

The workflow is being presented as a proof of concept, with broader availability to be determined.
