Amalia Gil Receives Young Leader Award, GreenMantra™ Technologies Recognized With Sustainability Award From Canadian Plastics Industry Association

BRANTFORD, Canada, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Amalia Gil, process engineer for GreenMantra Technologies, received the Young Leader Award, and the company was recognized for its innovative green technology with a Sustainability Award, at the annual Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) awards program September 19.

The Young Leader Award presented to Gil is designed to showcase a young professional who demonstrates leadership in plastics innovation, technology and sustainability and serves as a positive role model for other young professionals. GreenMantra received the Sustainability Award for its innovative, patented technology that converts waste plastics into high value specialty polymers and wax products.

Gil, 27, joined GreenMantra in 2012, and was part of the core team that led the design, construction and commissioning of the company's initial demonstration plant for conversion of waste plastic to synthetic wax. Later, Gil was an integral member of the engineering team tasked with design and construction of its 5,000 metric ton commercial manufacturing facility. Gil is a lead contributor to the company's environmental, health and safety programs and serves as a mentor to other associates. In the community, she oversees the company's engineering co-op programs with local universities and serves as "engineer in residence" for elementary schools in her community.

The company recently announced it has developed allied technology that converts waste polystyrene, the least recycled plastic, into styrenic polymers with potential applications in inks, insulation and other end uses.
