The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History's Annual Gala and Award Presentation Takes Place on November 5 in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, June 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 5, Ambassador Amy Gutmann will receive the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History's Only in America® Award, given to Jewish Americans who have made enormous contributions to our world.

As the country's only museum dedicated exclusively to exploring and interpreting the American Jewish experience, The Weitzman's signature award recognizes the achievements and contributions of American Jews who have significantly impacted American society and culture, often despite facing antisemitism and prejudice. As one of the most accomplished people in the world today, Ambassador Gutmann served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 2022-2024, and as the University of Pennsylvania's longest serving President from 2004-2022. She is a scholar of democracy, having written more than a dozen books – her scholarship has helped shape civic discourse in the U.S., reflecting the Jewish and American values of justice (tzedek), education (limmud), and social responsibility (tikkun olam). Throughout her career, she has been forceful in standing up and speaking out against antisemitism, the importance of Holocaust remembrance, and promoting tolerance and respect.  Gutmann's father escaped Nazi Germany in 1934 and his experience has deeply influenced her leadership and impact throughout her career.

As Penn's president, Gutmann's contributions and success cannot be understated. She championed innovation, impact, and access to higher education for all. Former Governor Edward G.
