American Apparel Opens New Store in Irvine Spectrum Center, First New Store in CA in 3 Years

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Apparel (Amex: APP), the vertically integrated clothing manufacturer based in downtown Los Angeles, has announced the opening of a new store in the Irvine Spectrum Center in Orange County.

The 4,000 square foot location will be the company's third location in Orange County and first in Irvine proper. It's the first new store American Apparel has opened in California since 2009.

"As a Southern California based company, we've always had our eye on the Irvine Spectrum. It's a world-class outdoor mall that's a shopping destination for all of Orange County. These are our type of customers and we're excited to be able to serve them with a new location in such a great place," said Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel.

The store will take full advantage of its large floor plan, featuring two tiers of window displays and a prominent stage for mannequins above the fitting rooms. It will be located next to Adidas and close to other clothing retailers such as Active and Hollister.

"Irvine is a city of families and we'll be carrying our full line here, including our kids and baby lines. Being right off the 405 and the 5 freeways, we have access to everyone in the surrounding area and plan on appealing to a wide variety of customers, from students at UC Irvine to surfers to business professionals," Brady said.

In addition to Irvine, the company also has stores in Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, for a total of 29 locations in Southern California.
