American Association For Physician Leadership® Announces First Editorial Board, New Media Leadership
Expansion of digital library and reorganization of flagship magazine coming this year
TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Association for Physician Leadership®, the premier organization for lifelong growth and support of physicians in health care management, has appointed its first editorial board and new editorial leadership as part of several changes in how it communicates with, and creates new knowledge for, its members and other professionals worldwide.
Throughout 2017, the association will refine and integrate its primary media channels — the bimonthly Physician Leadership Journal magazine, and the daily Physician Leadership Library online knowledge hub — to deliver a one-two punch of information health care professionals can use and act upon. Both will continue to offer case studies, original reporting, practical advice and thought leadership, working in alignment to tell more stories, in more ways, and with more context.
By leveraging the strengths of these two media — the authority of a magazine and the immediacy of an online resource — the association will give physician leaders the information they want, how they want it, to help them navigate the way for their organizations in a new, uncertain era of health care.
Anthony Slonim, MD, DrPH, CPE, FAAPL, is the new editor-in-chief of the Journal and the Library. As president and CEO of Nevada-based Renown Health, Slonim has extensive executive leadership experience in addition to his work as a physician, professor, author and fellow. He frequently is mentioned among the country's most influential physician leaders.
Slonim will oversee an editorial board — composed of certified physician executives from around the world, representing expertise in a wide range of leadership areas — that will review manuscripts submitted by industry peers for publication and help set the agenda for areas of coverage.
Managing Editor Jason Davis leads day-to-day operations of the organization's integrated media portfolio. He has more than 25 years' experience as a journalist and editor, most recently producing print and digital media for one of the country's largest organizations, with 9 million members in 11 states and two U.S. territories.
2017 will bring continued growth of the new Physician Leadership Library, an essential resource for physician leaders throughout their career lifecycles. It is packed with searchable and storable digital content, compiled from the work of the association's staff and faculty, other industry experts, and top health care and business news organizations.
Also, in addition to peer-reviewed content, the Journal will offer new content that spotlights innovation and excellence and engages members, ultimately strengthening a sense of professional community.
Since 1975, the American Association for Physician Leadership® has served physicians (including CEOs, chief medical officers and others) through leadership education, career support and policy advocacy. Its continuing medical education courses (available to member and nonmember physicians) can be applied to advanced degrees and certifications. Visit physicianleaders.org.
