CHICAGO, March 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) has announced an expanded patient-education meeting program in an effort to bring the most up-to-date brain tumor information to more patients and families in their local communities. The ABTA's Partners in Treatment and Care meetings will be offered in three additional cities, for a total of five cities, beginning in March 2016.
"Education empowers patients and families to ask important questions and understand their diagnosis and treatment options, so that they can make informed decisions from the point of diagnosis and throughout the trajectory of the disease," said Leticia J. Kees, M.S., director of programs, American Brain Tumor Association. "We're excited to bring these dynamic educational opportunities to three additional cities so more people who are impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis have access to the information, education and support they need closer to home."
Patients, families and caregivers are invited, free of charge, to a comprehensive day of education where leading experts will cover a variety of topics for the newly diagnosed as well as those further along the brain tumor journey. Presentations will address the full spectrum of issues to consider when living with a brain tumor; from latest brain tumor treatments to successful strategies for managing symptoms. Attendees will also learn more about where they can find local supportive services, resources and ways to get involved with the ABTA CommYOUnity™, the first nationwide brain tumor volunteer network.

The ABTA will host the Partners in Treatment in Care meetings in the following cities:

The one-day meetings complement the ABTA's National Patient and Family Conference held annually in Chicago (July 29-30) where top brain tumor experts convene to present the latest research, treatment and care strategies.
