Men who were once the vast majority of personal trainers, now make up less than 40 percent of the AFI personal training workforce. There was also a significant increase in both the number of jobs for personal trainers and an increase in their median pay of $31,720 with the top 10% earning $66,530.
Included in the study, the American Fitness Institute conducted a survey polling a cross section of 2,000 personal trainers. The top five reasons why most women choose to become American Fitness Institute trainers is flexibility, freedom, money, passion, and helping others.
