American Heritage Is The #1 Private School In The U.S. For Nationally Recognized Scholars

PLANTATION, Fla., Sept. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Seventy (70) students in 12^th grade at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida, have been named National Merit Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). This ranks American Heritage #1 in the nation of all private schools with the highest number of National Merit Scholars and #1 high school in Florida for the 9^th straight year. One in four of the students in the Class of 2019 is a nationally recognized scholar.

These 70 National Merit Semifinalists are the top scorers on the Preliminary SAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) throughout the state of Florida. They are eligible for Finalist status and will compete with the other semifinalists from around the country for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring.

Twenty-one (21) additional seniors at American Heritage received National Merit Commended Scholar status on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Commended students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships; however, some students are candidates for scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
