American Hospital Management Company (AHMC) Announces that Mount Saint John's Medical Centre has Achieved Caribbean Association of Medical Councils Accreditation

WASHINGTON, March 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- (http://www.myprgenie.com) -- Mount Saint John's Medical Centre* executive team confirmed that the team's efforts and preparation for the CAMC Accreditation process had been successful. This accreditation was only possible after a considerable amount of hard work by the Mount Saint John's Medical Centre* team laying the groundwork for a successful on-site survey by a respected and experienced team of CAMC surveyors.

Effective on Tuesday March 1st, 2011 (ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA) The Honourable Baldwin Spenser attended a ceremony at Mount St. John's Medical Centre* recognizing the hospital for its CAMC Accreditation and recent affiliation with the University of the West Indies (UWI) the signing of an affiliation agreement which enables the institution to officially be designated as a teaching hospital. The Prime Minister was also there to celebrate Mount Saint John's Medical Centre's* second anniversary, as well as, the commissioning of the four new anesthesia machines.

With a workforce of nearly 400 and a medical staff of over 60, Mount St. John's Medical Centre* is one of the island's largest employers. As the only tertiary level hospital of its kind in the lower Eastern Caribbean the newly designated 185-bed teaching hospital offers a full range of services including primary care, to advanced critical care as the only hospital in Antigua & Barbuda with ICU beds, and state-of-the-art diagnostic services which include the recent installation on an open MRI, the only one in the Eastern Caribbean.
