American Lung Association in Minnesota Hosts Free Lecture Series on Air Pollution

SAINT PAUL, Minn., June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Lung Association in Minnesota is proud to announce "Clean Air Choices," a new series of free public lectures on air pollution in our state.  This series will examine the sources and causes of air pollution, its effect on human health and the environment, state and federal clean air laws intended to reduce air pollution and minimize its harmful effects.

The first lecture in the series is on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 and will be on the subject of "Air Pollution in Minnesota."  It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. The featured speakers are Frank Kohlasch and Kristie Ellickson, Ph.D., of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Jean Johnson, Ph.D., of the Minnesota Department of Health.

The monthly Clean Air Choices lectures will be held from 6:30 - 8 p.m. in the Mississippi Room in the American Lung Association in Minnesota building at 490 Concordia Avenue in Saint Paul.  These lectures will feature presentations by American Lung Association staff and respected experts from a wide variety of fields and disciplines. The lectures will be brief and will include time for questions.

Other lectures in the series will include:

• "Fueling change: alternative fuels and vehicles available today" on Wednesday, July 20, 2011
• "Electric vehicles: Can they work in Minnesota?" on Wednesday, August 17, 2011
