America's Natural Gas Alliance Names Jed Bhuta Director of Legislative Affairs

WASHINGTON, April 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- America's Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) has named Jed Bhuta as Director of Legislative Affairs. Bhuta comes to ANGA with a strong background in energy and environmental policy, as well as other political affairs issues.

In his new role, Bhuta will work on legislative efforts to put to greater use the nation's vast domestic natural gas supplies to create jobs, reduce U.S. dependence on foreign energy and improve air quality.

"Jed's work on a wide range of issues including energy and the environment will be a tremendous asset to ANGA's efforts to set legislative policies supporting greater utilization of clean, domestic natural gas," said ANGA President and CEO Regina Hopper.

Bhuta joins ANGA after working as legislative director for U.S. Representative Heath Shuler (D-NC), a co-chair for the Blue Dog Coalition. As legislative director, Bhuta managed Congressman Shuler's legislative portfolio and worked to promote the positions of the Coalition in Congress. 

Prior to his stint with Congressman Shuler, Bhuta was government relations manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) where he analyzed energy legislation and advised senior agency staff on appropriate policy positions and advocacy options. In both of these roles, he helped shape and promote policies on energy and the environment.

Bhuta earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Florida and a juris doctorate from Florida State University.
