PHOENIX, Dec. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- There's still time to see the tallest fresh-cut decorated Christmas tree in America, a 115-foot-high, white fir, located at Outlets at Anthem in Phoenix, Ariz.
For the fourth consecutive year, the popular North Phoenix outlet shopping center is displaying the 16-ton decorated tree in its busy center court area during the holiday season.
"We're proud to once again be home to many activities and this majestic beacon of the holiday season," said Outlets at Anthem's Marketing Director, Sallyann Martinez.
The 27-foot-wide tree traveled nearly 750 miles on a 75-foot stretch flatbed trailer from northern California. The center has already seen visitors this season from across the U.S. as well as shoppers from Canada, Mexico, Germany and South America.
To compare, the tree is taller than:
- The Arizona State Capital Building (90 feet)
- A NBA Basketball Court (94 feet)
- The tallest tree ever showcased in New York City's Rockefeller Center (90 feet)
- The iconic Hollywood sign in California (55 feet)
The tree was shaped with 1,000 live branches ranging from 3-13 feet, strung with 180 strands of LED lights stretching a total of three miles and decorated with more than 6,000 bows and ornaments that measure 4-18-inches. It is topped with a three-foot handcrafted copper star. The tree will be on display through Jan. 6.
In addition, Outlets at Anthem's Santa House is open through Dec. 24. Children can get their photos taken with the jolly old man at the charming two-room Santa's Cottage located near the Christmas tree. Guests receive a complimentary 5 x 7 photo (a $15 value) with the purchase of any photo package. The cottage features antique architectural elements and a fireplace that snaps and crackles. Photos are also available in front of the tallest tree in the nation.
This year, Outlets at Anthem's 115-foot tall tree has a twin which is showcased at Outlets at Anthem's sister center, Citadel Outlets in Los Angeles, Calif.
Outlets at Anthem is located off 1-17 at exit 229, 30 minutes north of downtown Phoenix.
