"We are excited to announce this partnership with Mercy as an example of their commitment to our community," said Board President Rex Engle. The deal is worth $240,000 to the district, at $20,000 per year on a 12-year agreement.
In return for its investment in the Amherst district, Mercy will receive naming rights to the stadium and branding opportunities at other sports complexes for the district.
"It's a privilege to collaborate with the Amherst Exempted Village School District," said Edwin Oley, Senior Vice President of Mercy Health and CEO of the Lorain Region. "Mercy is committed to providing high-quality, accessible health care for the Amherst community. We look to collaborate with like-minded organizations and we feel that the Amherst School District is the ideal partner as we continue to grow in Amherst."
Brands are discovering that working together with schools on mutually beneficial partnerships has an exponential effect not only on the school, but also gives the company deeper roots into the community that they're serving," said Larry Jaeger, President for Hunter Sports Marketing, a company that specializes in naming rights valuation and who helped facilitate this agreement. "Naming Rights sponsorships have become an invaluable component of a company's marketing strategy."
"We are excited to welcome them as the sponsor of our football stadium," said Amherst Superintendent Steve Sayers. "The revenues received from this naming rights sponsorship will allow us to do so many great things for the students of Amherst and will help offset the cost of maintaining our athletic facilities."
Besides the naming rights, the district and Mercy will explore other ways to collaborate that will increase the quality of healthcare to the district," said Oley.
