The Amped Wireless difference starts with High Power technology. Standard Wi-Fi devices have an output power of a mere 50 milliwatts (mW), while the TAP-EX packs up to 800 milliwatts (mW) of Wi-Fi output power and all in a discreet tabletop design. More output power means more Wi-Fi range, it allows a signal to push through walls and eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots. With four total amplifiers and two high gain, dual band antennas, the TAP-EX provides up to 10,000 square feet of extended coverage.
From start to finish, the setup of the TAP-EX is done entirely on the vibrant touch screen display. No computers or other devices are needed to complete it. After powering on the Extender, the user taps to scan for the Wi-Fi network they would like to extend, then selects that network from the list and setup is complete. The touch screen also allows the user to control many features of the Range Extender including the setup and management of Guest Networks, the Wi-Fi Access Schedule, User Access Controls, the strength of the Wi-Fi signal in Signal Coverage Controls and many other settings.
At a mere five inches tall by about five inches wide, the TAP-EX can be placed on a shelf, desk, or even mounted to a wall. Thoughtfully designed to complement most interior aesthetics, the TAP-EX also features an optional modern digital clock display. The Extender is built with two additional wired ports for connecting TVs, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles and any other network device. It is also equipped with a USB port for local file sharing.
