NEW YORK, April 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Andrea Cotter has joined Straightline, a leading independent brand consultancy based in New York City. In the newly expanded position of Managing Director, Andrea will have responsibility for client services and solutions, business development and company management.

Andrea comes to Straightline as an experienced marketing and communications professional. She was most recently the Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer of UPMC, a large global healthcare system based in Western Pennsylvania. During her tenure at UPMC she managed all of the communication, advertising, marketing and internal communication and helped UPMC establish a new brand identity and global image. Prior to her role at UPMC, Andrea was Global Director of Healthcare and Life Sciences Marketing at IBM where she had a 30-year career. Andrea was involved with IBM's global marketing transformation, the IBM Linux strategy, and the initiation of IBM's Smarter Planet strategy. She was instrumental in developing the first strategic communication for IBM's healthcare business solutions.
Currently, Andrea holds two advisory board positions with healthcare and life sciences entrepreneurial businesses. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Strategic Communication at the NYU's Master of Science in Public Relations and Corporate Communications program. In addition, she is a guest blogger and mentor for the e-zine, LatinBusinessToday.com.
Andrea holds a bachelor of arts in languages from SUNY Oswego and a master of science in information science from SUNY Albany. She brings tremendous international business experience and cultural fluency to her new role at Straightline.
