Andrew Dreyfus Honored With "Building a Better Boston" Award

"Andrew Dreyfus has a history of bringing together key stakeholders to solve complex health challenges in a collaborative way," said Lisa DeAngelis, director of the Center for Collaborative Leadership. "He's a leader our Emerging Leaders Program fellows can look to for inspiration as they think about how they'll make their mark on the Boston region in years to come."

Dreyfus has long been committed to helping expand access to health care for Massachusetts residents. He served as founding president of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, where he developed the "Roadmap to Coverage," a multi-year policy initiative that was instrumental in the passage of the Commonwealth's landmark 2006 health reform law. He also led the development of Blue Cross' innovative payment approach, called the Alternative Quality Contract, which rewards doctors and hospitals for delivering high-quality patient care and helping to keep members healthy. The model fosters shared responsibility for both improving care and moderating the increasing costs of health care. Dreyfus is also a founding member of the Massachusetts Coalition for Serious Illness Care, which brings together individuals and organizations committed to systematically improving care for serious illness. He has been a strong advocate for bipartisanship in improving the Affordable Care Act and working to stem the tide of opioid addiction. In addition, Dreyfus serves on a number of nonprofit boards, in service to the organizations and the community.

"Quality, affordable health care is possible in Massachusetts if the health care community continues to work together in a spirit of shared responsibility. There is still work to be done, and the key will be innovation and strong collaboration."
