Andy Baker joins American Global Strategies as Managing Director

WASHINGTON, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- American Global Strategies LLC announced today that Andy Baker, former Deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump and National Security Advisor to Vice President JD Vance, has joined the firm as Managing Director.

Dr. Baker brings more than 15 years of experience across diplomacy, foreign policy, and national security, including senior roles at the National Security Council, the Office of the Vice President, the U.S. Senate, and the Department of State. At AGS, he will advise clients on national security, foreign policy, geopolitical strategy, and the implications of a rapidly changing international environment for business and investment decisions.

In the second Trump administration, Dr. Baker became the only U.S. official ever to serve concurrently as Deputy National Security Advisor to the President and National Security Advisor to the Vice President. He was closely involved in the development and execution of U.S. national security and foreign policy, including the administration's National Security Strategy and major diplomatic and security initiatives around the world. He was among the officials most closely involved in the administration's foreign policy and national security decision-making during its first 18 months.

Dr. Baker joined then-Senator Vance as National Security Advisor in 2023, advising him on foreign and national security policy in the Senate and during the campaign before moving with him to the White House. Before joining Senator Vance's staff, Dr. Baker spent more than a decade as a career Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State, serving in assignments spanning diplomacy, strategy, and national security, including Afghanistan and NATO headquarters in Brussels. He earned his bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in international relations from the University of Oxford.
