The José Armando Sayovo Paralympic Sports Complex, built in the city of Caxito, Bengo Province, was inaugurated on Saturday, October 4, 2025, by His Excellency the President of the Republic, João Gonçalves Lourenço, in the presence of the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço; the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão Pinto de Andrade; the Governor of Bengo Province, Antónia Nelumba; Ministers of State; Ministers from various government sectors; representatives of the Olympic and Paralympic Committees; traditional and religious leaders; and other distinguished guests.

A Hub for 20+ Disciplines, Built to Global Standard. Covering more than 20 Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, the complex integrates residential facilities for 250 athletes, academic training rooms, and advanced medical and physiotherapy technologies. The 3,500 m² Multi-Sports Pavilion includes nine functional zones, courts for basketball, handball, volleyball, futsal, and roller hockey, alongside a high-tech gym, weightlifting platform, and rehabilitation center with electrostimulation, shockwave therapy, cryotherapy, and hydrotherapy pool.
Outdoor facilities feature an Olympic-standard 50-meter swimming pool with electronic timing systems, a FIFA-certified 11-a-side football field, and a 400-meter Tartan athletics track, all certified for international competitions. The entire infrastructure was built according to the highest international standards, including FIBA and FIFA certifications, and in compliance with the requirements of the International Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
Setting a New Standard for Inclusivity. A defining feature of the project is its strong commitment to inclusivity. The complex is fully accessible, equipped with adapted technologies and spaces for Paralympic disciplines where every element reflects Angola's dedication to equal opportunity in sports.
As reported by the Angolan Press Agency ( ANGOP ), H.E. João Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola, stated: "This is a project of great significance, which reinforces the State's commitment to promoting sport for all and the full integration of people with disabilities." The President also encouraged Angola's Paralympic and Olympic athletes to maintain their focus and ambition in international competitions, particularly ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
