Announcing Be Well Washington: A Family Health Week!

SEATTLE, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- To encourage healthy family lifestyles, Regence BlueShield is partnering with the Seattle Seahawks, Sounders FC and King 5 to sponsor a week of free health screenings, family activities and educational opportunities to the residents of Western Washington as part of Be Well Washington: A Family Health Week! The week of health activities culminates with a free Be Well Family Health Fair at Qwest field on Saturday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Washington Governor Christine Gregoire has proclaimed August 2 – 7, 2010 as Be Well Washington Week in recognition of the importance of promoting a happy and healthy lifestyle. The governor issued a formal proclamation in support of the efforts to encourage residents to take responsibility for their individual health; and to provide screenings and health education for state residents.

Be Well Washington: A Family Health Week! will feature complimentary health screenings, presentations by health experts and healthy cooking demonstrations throughout the Puget Sound area at various times throughout the week of August 2 - 7. The highlight of the week is a family oriented Be Well Health Fair at Qwest Field. Admission is free to the event on Saturday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that will include a Kids' Zone, as well as interactive wellness exhibits and activities, including healthy cooking demonstrations, a cookie contest and soccer drills with Sounders FC trainers.
