Announcing New Services and Products for Depression Treatment

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Superior Psychiatric Services (SPS) and Alexis Meshi, MD, are proud to announce that the medical clinic in Newport Beach, California, is now offering TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) treatment for depression. SPS is also developing the clinical trials arm of the practice and will be offering a number of different trials to the community. In addition, SPS will have SPRAVATO, the new FDA-approved nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression, available as an in-office treatment as well.

TMS is an FDA-approved treatment for depression. It is a non-systemic therapy that utilizes electromagnetic pulses - a great alternative to medication. The treatments are daily (five days per week) for four to six weeks. Clients sit comfortably in a beautifully appointed TMS treatment room and relax while receiving this treatment.

SPS is one of the few practices in the area that offers treatment only by an MD and not a technician. Dr. Meshi attended the inaugural Pulses Workshop given by the Clinical TMS Society and is certified to administer TMS.

SPS is also more than excited to have an additional tool in Spravato (a new revolutionary treatment by Janssen Pharmaceuticals) to treat clients with treatment-resistant depression. Spravato is a type of Ketamine that is administered intra-nasally as an in-office treatment. Clinics have to be certified before they can offer this treatment.

Superior Psychiatric Services has been serving the community in the greater Newport Beach area for 10 years. SPS recently moved and expanded into over 1,600 square feet at a new space at The Jetty office complex. The office is in a modern loft-style complex, offering a boutique, luxury setting in which to receive care. SPS is a private-pay office. SPS is out of network for all insurance. However, reimbursement from insurance may be possible. Dr. Meshi specializes in women's mental health and specifically in reproductive psychiatry.
