AI routers can read the prompts that pass through them. AnonRouter uses protected hardware to keep those prompts private so no one can see them, not even AnonRouter.
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AnonRouter gives developers private access to more than 300 AI models through one API. It keeps account information separate from the content of users' conversations.
Prompts can contain proprietary source code, internal business documents, or personal information. A typical AI router can see and save those prompts, while AnonRouter sends them directly into protected hardware, keeping their contents private even from AnonRouter itself. Account and billing systems receive only the metadata needed to authorize and settle the request. Prompts and responses are never written to disk or used for training. The selected model provider receives only the content needed to process the request.
Think of it as a VPN for AI. A VPN keeps internet traffic private from the networks carrying it. AnonRouter applies the same idea to AI, where prompts can be more sensitive than browsing history.
The privacy-critical code is open source on GitHub. AnonRouter's confidential client uses hardware attestation to verify that the live service is running the published code before sending a prompt. If verification fails, the client refuses to send it.
"Most privacy claims in AI are promises about what a company will choose not to do," said Ben Schumacher, CEO of AnonRouter. "We built something you can verify instead of taking our word for it."
The service supports chat completions, embeddings, streaming, tool calls, image generation, speech and more. Users can choose from four privacy levels based on how they want each request handled. Accounts can be registered with or without an email address. Developers can switch an existing application to AnonRouter with one configuration change. They can choose a model directly or let AnonRouter select the most capable model that meets their privacy requirements at the lowest available price.
The launch follows Stripe's agreement to acquire OpenRouter. The deal has drawn new attention to the companies between AI applications and model providers. AnonRouter offers a different approach: access to hundreds of models without giving the company in the middle access to your conversations.
Most AI routers ask users to trust the company operating them. AnonRouter lets users inspect the privacy-critical code and verify what is running.
AnonRouter is available now at anonrouter.ai.
