Another Top Online University Recognition for IWU

MARION, Ind., May 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Indiana Wesleyan University ("IWU") has again been recognized as one of the top online universities in the nation. In an article just released by TheBestSchools.org ("TBS"), IWU ranked 34 out of 50 online colleges and universities to make the list of 50 Best Online Colleges for 2015-2016.

TBS utilizes an extensive evaluation process in order to compile this independent list, created to help prospective students make informed decisions about their online education. To create the list, TBS looks at factors such as academic excellence, scholarly strength of faculty, online teaching methods, tuition costs, reputation, awards, financial aid, and range of degree programs offered.

According to TBS' report, the number of students learning online has nearly quadrupled in the last ten years, from two million Americans to over seven million. IWU was ahead of the curve when it offered its first online class in 1996, a move that was viewed skeptically in the higher education community, according to IWU President Dr. David Wright. "We were convinced that we could be successful if we kept our focus on the content of our adult programs — both online and onsite — and not on the way our classes were delivered.
