Anquan Boldin's Charity Golf Tournament at the PGA National Champion Course, Scheduled for April 14, 2011
Tournament is Part of the 7th Annual Q-Festival Weekend to Benefit the Anquan Boldin Foundation's Quest for a Youth Center in Hometown Community
PAHOKEE, Fla., Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Three-Time Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin of the Baltimore Ravens along with the Anquan Boldin Foundation (Q81 Foundation) is excited to announce the 4th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, officially scheduled for April 14, 2011 at the world renowned PGA National Resort & Spa located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Tournament will be played on the Champion Course - home of the PGA Honda Classic – and will be accompanied by Boldin as well as more than 15 professional athletes who love playing the game of golf.
The Tournament is part of the Anquan Boldin Foundation's 7th Annual Q-Festival Weekend, an event that Boldin decided early in his NFL career to host in order to give back to his hometown community of Pahokee, Florida.
The Charity Golf Tournament is the fundraising portion of the annual Q-Festival, and it is currently looking for a Presenting Sponsor. The primary component of the fundraising is to campaign for the construction of a Youth Recreational Center in Boldin's hometown of Pahokee. Boldin has already purchased the land for this Center, and the Q81 Foundation has been in many discussions and planning for youth programs and activities.
In addition to the Charity Golf Tournament, the Q-Festival Weekend is comprised of the popular Celebrity Basketball Game on April 15 and the signature, "Fun Day in the Park" on April 16, both taking place in Pahokee. The Celebrity Basketball Game has been a huge draw to fans as well as NFL players throughout the league, including players such as Ravens Ray Lewis, Willis McGahee, Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Bengals Chad Johnson, Texans Andre Johnson, NFL great Michael Irvin, and many more throughout the years. The Pahokee events are free to the public, and all of the Glades area, especially are encouraged to attend for free food, entertainment, contests, performances and celebration.
"Q-Fest keeps getting better and more of Pahokee and the surrounding communities consider the event as a must-attend in the month of April," says Boldin. "Each year the Anquan Boldin Foundation uses this event as a way to allow kids to have fun and meet the athletes they see on TV. We also encourage the community to join together and continue doing what we can to support our youth who need us."
Pahokee named their state of the art, high school stadium after Boldin for his dedication to the community. Boldin was also recently honored with the Ravens Walter Payton Man of the Year for his work on and off the field.
