Ed Cox, Marty Golden, Frank Padavan, Craig Eaton and Dan Halloran Endorse Bob Turner
GLENDALE, N.Y., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Anthony Weiner challenger Bob Turner, Republican candidate for Congress in New York's 9th CD, picked up several key endorsements on a day-long GOP "Take Back New York" bus tour held yesterday throughout the district.
Ed Cox, Chairman of the New York State Republican Party, and others enthusiastically endorsed Turner's candidacy in what was once considered a long-shot race but has turned into a dog fight.
Cox said: "Bob Turner has my complete support in the race for the 9th Congressional District. As a business leader from the television industry, Bob Turner has started successful companies and knows how to create jobs. Bob will be a check and balance to the career politicians in Washington. Bob exemplifies what the American people are looking for right now in a representative. He is an ethical businessman, a dedicated family man and a U.S. Army veteran, who has nothing to personally to gain by running for office. I consider this a very winnable race against the incumbent career politician, Congressman Anthony Weiner."
NY State Senator Marty Golden of Brooklyn and NY State Senator Frank Padavan of Queens joined the bus tour to give their respective endorsements of Turner.
Also endorsing Turner at various stops were Crain Eaton, Brooklyn GOP Chairman, Queens City Councilman Dan Halloran and former State Senator Serf Maltese.
Previously, Turner was endorsed by former New York Mayor and 2008 Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani, and by Congressman Peter King.
Turner has lived his entire life in the neighborhoods of the 9th District. He was raised in Woodhaven as the eldest of three sons, and raised his own family in Richmond Hill. He now resides in Rockaway Point.
He spent 40 years of his career in the highly competitive television industry. His first job was as a clerk for ABC-TV, launching a rewarding career in broadcasting, advertising, TV program production and distribution. As President, CEO or Chairman, Turner has started up and managed companies large and small. While his family life was centered on the Ninth District, Turner's career took him around the globe as he conducted business and formed programming partnerships in places from Tbilisi to Delhi, Manila to Moscow. He is a U.S. Army veteran (1962-64, Rank SP5, Honorable Discharge).
