"During this years antique season kickoff, our exhibitors continued to experience high interest in antiques from attendees," said Andrea Canady, Fair Director. "We realize that South Florida offers a great exposure to influential antique trendsetters and its melting pot community provides the ideal environment to cultivate relationships with our exhibitors in this niche market."
In its 20th year, the Miami Beach Antique Jewelry & Watch Show gave collectors firsthand exposure to the newest trends in the antique industry including vintage engagement rings, signed pieces and rare gems including rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Attendees that perused the showroom aisles were exposed to various antiques including rare watches from Patek Phillipe to luxurious necklaces and earrings suites from Van Cleef & Arpels. Antique jewelry staples, such as pearls and signed pieces, from all eras of jewelry history continued to be crowd favorites this year.
"Throughout the weekend we engaged with a sophisticated group of buyers that were interested in engagement rings, closeouts and big colored stones," said Jerome Heidenreich, with Jerome Heidenreich, Inc. "We are looking forward to The Original Miami Beach Antique Show in January and cannot wait to interact with the international dealers."
GIA Alumni interested in educating themselves on the process of evaluating the value of their precious collections attended an educational seminar on Friday evening, led by renowned jewelry expert, Gloria Lieberman of Skinner Auctioneers. Lieberman presented to a group over 50 attendees and shared valuable tips on how the industry is constantly evolving and how current trends can affect the price of antique jewelry.
"We were delighted that many attended this educational session during the Miami Beach Antique Jewelry & Watch Show," said Gloria Lieberman, Skinner Auctioneers. "It's important to evaluate the types of merchandise that are trending to determine the true value of a particular antique collection."
Dealers witnessed elevated sales and viewed interest from the public at an all-time high throughout the Show. The Show also announced that buying continues to remain strong throughout the market.
"This year was the first time our company had exhibited at the Show," said Paul Haig, Haig's of Rochester. "As a long-time exhibitor of several antique shows, we experienced more than 1.5 growth in sales over any other show that we've exhibited in throughout our company's history, which is something truly remarkable. As the year closes out we look forward to the 2013 antique show season and anticipate an unprecedented increase in sales."
The next show on the calendar for US Antique Shows is The Original Miami Beach Antique Show. This show is scheduled for January 31 – February 4, 2013 at The Miami Beach Convention Center.
