Apache Announces Changes in Corporate Leadership

Houston, Nov. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Apache Corporation (NYSE, Nasdaq: APA) today announced changes in the leadership of its corporate and financial teams.

"These promotions and new assignments will strengthen the Apache team as we address the challenges and multitude of opportunities ahead," said Roger Plank, Apache's president. The changes, which are effective immediately, include:

• Thomas P. Chambers, vice president of Planning and Investor Relations, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer.
• Matthew W. Dundrea, vice president and treasurer, has been promoted to senior vice president, Treasury and Administration.
• Robert J. Dye, vice president– Corporate Services, has been promoted to senior vice president – Global Communications and Corporate Affairs.
• Rebecca A. Hoyt, vice president and controller, has been promoted to vice president, chief accounting officer and controller with added responsibility for the Corporate Land Administration group in addition to Apache's worldwide Accounting organization.
• Rod Gryder, director of Internal Audit, has been promoted to vice president – Audit.
• Alfonso Leon, director of strategic planning, has been promoted to vice president – Planning, Strategy and Investor Relations.

Chambers joined Apache in 1995 as director of Corporate Planning and was named vice president – Corporate Planning in 2001. Previously, he worked in the international business development group at Pennzoil Exploration and Production and held a variety of management positions with BP plc. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Dundrea was appointed vice president and treasurer in 1997. He joined Apache in 1994 as assistant treasurer and was appointed treasurer in 1996. Prior to joining Apache, he was associated with Mobil Corp., Occidental Petroleum Corp. and Union Texas Petroleum. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Rider University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Dye joined the company in 1992 as director of Corporate Planning. He became director of Investor Relations in 1995, and was named vice president – Investor Relations in 1997. Previously, he was planning manager for the Offshore Division of BP Exploration. A chemical engineering graduate from the University of Oklahoma, he received his MBA from Stanford University.

Hoyt was appointed vice president and controller in 2006, having been assistant controller since 2003. Prior to that, she held positions of increasing responsibility within the accounting area since joining the company in 1993. She was an audit manager with Arthur Andersen LLP. Hoyt holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Houston.

Gryder joined Apache as director of audit in 1998. Previously, he held finance and audit positions at Western Atlas, TransTexas Gas Corp., Occidental Petroleum, Tenneco, the Texas State Auditor's Office and Peat, Marwick & Co. He holds a bachelor's of business administration in accounting from Texas Tech.

Leon joined Apache as director of Strategic Planning in 2009. Previously, he was a director and head of energy investment banking at Perella Weinberg Partners from 2006 until 2009.  Prior to that, he served in various corporate strategy, planning and business development roles at Royal Dutch Shell.  He holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
