The new product line adds NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 certified stainless steel flanges to API International's waterworks offering
TUALATIN, Ore., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- API International, a manufacturer and engineered solutions provider of standard and custom flanges, fittings, and piping components, has launched CleanLine, a new line of NSF-certified products developed for drinking-water and clean-water applications.
The launch expands API International's existing waterworks and sanitary process components to support projects that specifically require NSF-certified components. CleanLine products are certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 for drinking-water system health effects and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 for lead-content requirements.
The product line was developed in response to demand from customers sourcing stainless steel components for drinking-water systems that specify NSF certification.
"CleanLine gives our customers another option when a project goes beyond dimensional and material requirements and specifically calls for NSF-certified components," said Ric Henderson, VP of Sales. "We already serve the waterworks market with a broad range of AWWA and ANSI/ASME flanges. This certification allows us to support more drinking-water infrastructure projects while giving customers access to the same product knowledge, manufacturing capabilities, and service they already receive from API International."

Expanding an Established Waterworks Product Line
CleanLine adds an NSF-certified qualification to stainless steel flange configurations already familiar to waterworks distributors, contractors, municipalities, OEMs, and engineering firms.
The initial product offering includes flanges manufactured to AWWA C228, ASME B16.5, and ASME B16.47 Series A and Series B standards. Available configurations include slip-on, blind, and weld-neck flanges with raised-face and flat-face options.
Products are available in dual-grade 304/304L and 316/316L stainless steel, giving customers options based on their water system demands. Both grades provide strong corrosion resistance and long-term durability, while 316/316L is well suited for systems exposed to higher chloride levels or more corrosive water conditions.
The current CleanLine offering is domestically produced, supporting projects with domestic-content requirements, including applicable American Iron and Steel (AIS) and Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements.
NSF Certification for Evaluating Chemical Leaching and Lead Content
NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 evaluates materials and products that come into contact with drinking water from a health-effects standpoint, including contaminants and impurities that may be indirectly introduced into drinking water.
NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 addresses lead content and is used to demonstrate compliance with lead-content requirements for products used with drinking water.
While a standard stainless steel flange may share the same material grade, dimensions, pressure class, and general configuration as an NSF-certified flange, stainless steel construction alone does not make a product NSF certified. CleanLine products have completed the applicable certification process and are covered under API International's NSF certification and listing.
API International's certified products can also be verified through NSF's official certified product listings.
Products for Sanitary Process Applications
CleanLine flanges are intended for drinking-water and sanitary systems across a broad range of infrastructure and equipment applications, including:
- Municipal drinking water systems and distribution mains
- Water treatment plants and municipal well systems
- Pump, booster, valve and meter connections
- Filtration, membrane, reverse-osmosis and UV treatment systems
- Potable water storage and finished-water piping
- Food and beverage systems
- Pharmaceutical equipment
- OEM water-treatment and purification systems
The product line includes AWWA C228 Class D and Class E slip-on and blind flanges, as well as ASME B16.5 and B16.47 Class 150 slip-on, blind and weld-neck configurations.
CleanLine also expands the types of projects API International can support beyond traditional municipal waterworks, particularly in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, sanitary and water-treatment equipment markets, where NSF-certified drinking-water components may be specified.
Supporting Standard and Custom Requirements
In addition to its standard CleanLine offering, API International can review custom flange requirements to determine whether they fall within the scope of the company's NSF certification.
The CleanLine launch is part of API International's continued investment in its waterworks product offering and support for drinking-water infrastructure throughout the United States.
