April Showers the North Shore with Intriguing Small Business Workshops
Enterprise Center calendar for upcoming month loaded with possibilities
SALEM, Mass., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- If spring is the season for new growth, this is the year to expand your horizons at the Enterprise Center at Salem State University. The April line-up is a diverse one, aimed at providing value to small businesses in a variety of industries and at varying stages of growth. The month features two more sessions in the Center's popular "Business of…" series, which explores different, often emerging industries, and the opportunities they present for North Shore businesses. The Business of Consulting will take place on Tuesday, April 3rd, and the Business of the Arts: Successful Entrepreneurship for Artists is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11th.
The other workshops will cover a variety of topics:
- Leadership: Focus On Developing Talent (Thursday, April 5) will look at creating a pipeline of future leaders and more satisfied and productive employees.
- Negotiating Skills For Success (Thursday, April 12) will address how to prepare for negotiations, understand what's really being negotiated, and develop the confidence to negotiate effectively.
- Retirement Plan Secrets For Small Business Owners (Tuesday, April 24) will go beyond popular IRAs to explain other options and discuss how one can offer an affordable benefit to employees and achieve tax savings.
- Pricing Your Products And Services (Thursday, April 26) is a perennial favorite. It is sponsored by the Small Business Development Center, which also co-sponsors many Enterprise Center workshops.
One of he highlights of the month will undoubtedly be the 2012 North of Boston Business Plan Competition Finale, which will take place at 3 pm on April 9th in the Bertolon Recital Hall at Salem State University. The three finalists (to be announced on March 29th) will present their plans to a panel of expert judges and will split $10,000 in cash prizes. The public is welcome. As with most Enterprise Center programs, there is no charge.
A busy April will conclude with a 128 Venture North breakfast meeting for investors, entrepreneurs seeking funding and interested onlookers. The topic for Friday, April 27th is How Much Money Is Too Much…Or Too Little?, which will delve into how to determine the appropriate amount of funding as well as the upsides and downside of asking for too much…or too little.
