Architectural gem commands Nichols Canyon views on three sides

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Seen from some angles, the villa seems to float high on the side of Nichols Canyon. Created by celebrity architect Fred Smathers, who made the canyon his canvas again and again, this is the Mediterranean villa at its modern essence. Surrounded by 270-degree views, this is the sensational home you've been seeking — filled with spacious, refined rooms, enchanting outdoor spaces and subtly sumptuous details. Completely renovated in 2002 and further updated in 2010, the breathtaking 2641 Nichols Canyon Road has been listed by Aaron Kirman, President of Aaroe Estates, the luxury property division of John Aaroe Group, and Estates Director Mimi Starrett at $4,490,000. See more photos here.

Behind the gate in the fountain-ornamented courtyard entry, Arizona flagstone and multicolored slate patios define over 3,000 square feet of ultra-private outdoor entertaining spaces, all with tranquil views of the canyon. A custom stone water wall with pond and a stone pool waterfall fill the air with sparkling ambience.

Entertaining for a couple or a crowd works beautifully here, thanks to a fully equipped outdoor stainless steel and granite kitchen with 60" Viking Grill and rotisserie, Sub-Zero refrigerator and built-in granite bar. Inside, the custom chef's kitchen, featured in Kitchens by Professional Designers magazine, features Neff cherry wood cabinetry, granite countertops and a Viking two-oven system with six gas burners and an indoor grill.

In the vast living room, French doors and floor-to-ceiling windows open to patios and balconies. Upstairs, the large, elegant master suite surrounds you in the luxury of Brazilian cherry wood floors, French doors to a view balcony, and an indulgent marble master bath with spa tub and steam shower. Three more suites, one with Jacuzzi tub and steam room, also feature cherry wood floors and marble baths.

In 2009, the homeowners, renowned book collectors, built an addition to house their world-renowned collection of first editions. Inspired by Smathers' original plans, this open two-story Federal style library/office is floored in Brazilian cherry wood and paneled in rich African mahogany topped with striking dentil crown molding. A wood-railed gallery surrounds the second floor. French doors open to a wrought iron balcony overlooking the courtyard on one side, and stone patios with stunning canyon and sunset views on the other. The floor below houses a separate guest apartment with its own entrance, a bedroom, marble bath and cherry wood and granite kitchenette.

Behind the scenes, the home features an owner-owned Sun Power solar system, global smartphone-controlled security/alarm and monitoring, home-wide low voltage halogen lighting and more smart home systems.
