KENNETT SQUARE, Pa., Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten days before winning her first FIS Snowboard World Championship, Arielle Gold, 16, fell so hard on her head during a training run that her helmet cracked. "The past few weeks have been truly amazing – from the World Championship to the Winter X Games and now an overall Grand Prix title," said Gold. "I've learned that falling hard is a part of snowboarding you have to accept. Without Unequal's supplemental head padding in my helmet and Unequal protecting my body, I don't know what would have happened after my crash. I was back to training within days after a fall that would normally keep me out weeks. Unequal gives me the confidence to push my limits, and that confidence is what helped me reach new heights already in 2013."
Gold is quickly emerging as one of snowboarding's most promising young stars. Her accomplishments in 2013 include being the youngest American and second-youngest athlete ever to claim the women's halfpipe FIS World Championship title In Quebec. Days later Gold, who was listed an alternate for the U.S. team at the 2013 Winter X Games, received word she'd be replacing Gretchen Bleiler in the women's superpipe competition. A Winter X rookie, Gold took home the bronze medal. A week later, with a second-place finish in the final Sprint U.S. Grand Prix halfpipe competition in Park City, UT, Gold clinched the 2013 U.S. Championship.
"We first discovered Unequal through buzz around NFL players and Michael Vick," said Ken Gold, Arielle's father. "With the Unequal Supplemental Head Padding in her helmet and customized Unequal pads for her body, I'm confident Arielle is wearing the best protection available today."
