Armata Pharmaceuticals Strengthens Intellectual Property Portfolio with Two Recent Patent Issuances in the United States

Issued patents provide intellectual property protection for clinical candidates, AP-SA02 and AP-PA02, until at least 2041

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Armata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE American: ARMP) ("Armata" or the "Company"), a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of high-purity and potency, pathogen-specific bacteriophage therapeutics for the treatment of antibiotic-resistant and difficult-to-treat bacterial infections, today announced issuance of two patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") covering its bacteriophage programs, AP-SA02 and AP-PA02. These newly issued U.S. patents support Armata's leadership in bacteriophage therapeutics and specifically, strengthen the intellectual property ("IP") around the AP-SA02 and AP-PA02 programs, which are highly impactful and potential first- and best-in-class therapies. With patent protection extending into at least 2041, Armata's programs are supported by a robust, long-term IP foundation, with additional patents pending.

Armata's bacteriophage intellectual property portfolio includes 15 patent families with issued or pending claims covering the Company's bacteriophage development programs. With these issuances, the company's global IP portfolio consists of 101 issued patents (15 U.S. and 86 ex-U.S.) and 60 pending patent applications (9 U.S. and 51 ex-U.S.) with nominal expiration dates through 2046.

U.S. Patent No. 12,751,983: Bacteriophage Compositions For Treating Staphylococcus Infection

Issued on October 6, 2026, protects methods of treating Staphylococcus aureus infections using its lead product candidate, AP-SA02, which is currently in development for adjunct treatment of complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia ("SAB") caused by methicillin-sensitive S. aureus ("MSSA") or methicillin-resistant S. aureus ("MRSA"). The patent is expected to provide patent protection until at least February 2041, and may be eligible for patent term adjustments or patent term extensions affording even later protection.

U.S. Patent No. 12,594,312: Bacteriophage Compositions For Treating Pseudomonas Infection

Issued on April 7, 2026, protects methods of treating Pseudomonas infections using its clinical candidate, AP-PA02, which is in development against various diseases or indications caused by Pseudomonas infections. The patent is expected to provide patent protection until about January 4, 2043 which includes 617 days of patent term adjustments, and this case may be eligible as well for patent term extensions affording even later protection.

Armata is developing AP-SA02, a fixed multi-phage cocktail, for the adjunct treatment of complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia caused by methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) or methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). AP-SA02 has received Qualified Infectious Disease Product (QIDP) designation, Fast Track designation, and Breakthrough Therapy designation from the FDA. The diSArm study (NCT05184764) was a Phase 1b/2a, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multiple ascending dose escalation study of the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of intravenous AP-SA02 in addition to best available antibiotic therapy ("BAT") compared to BAT alone (placebo) for the treatment of adults with complicated S. aureus bacteremia. Positive results from the Phase 2a diSArm study were highlighted in a late-breaking oral presentation at IDWeek 2025™ in October 2025. The Company plans to advance AP-SA02 into a Phase 3 superiority study in complicated SAB, anticipated to initiate in the second half of 2026.
