Why: |
After serving with the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team in Iraq, Sherman was diagnosed with PTSD and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). He attempted to get help but nearly lost his life due to mismanaged medications. His health issues went untreated and a few years later, his dream career as a municipal police officer ended. "I know I nearly took my own life even though I am only mildly effected by PTSD and depression, so I know that there are others out there struggling to survive." He overcame his depression with community support; only to see six men from his former unit take their own lives. He needed to make a difference and found The Soldier Project and started this 9,484-mile motorcycle journey to raise support and awareness for PTSD. |
